Trail Airport: Cheap Flights, Tickets and Travel Deals

With the stunning Rocky Mountains and the beautiful Pacific Ocean to explore, British Columbia is a Canadian traveller's dream vacation spot. Though big cities like Vancouver and Victoria often take all the glory, smaller cities like Trail are definitely worth a visit. The main gateway into Trail is Trail Airport (YZZ). To find the cheapest flights to Trail Airport from any starting location, enter your trip details into Skyscanner's flight search tool. Skyscanner will search all available airlines flying your flight route and show you the best and cheapest way to fly to Trail.

Best Time to Book a Flight to Trail

Trail experiences four distinct seasons. Spring is cool to warm, with rain and thunderstorms being quite common. Although thunderstorms are also common in the summer months, the weather tends to warm up considerably. Average temperatures from June to August are in the high twenties. These are some of the most popular months to visit Trail. In the fall, the temperatures start to cool down and heavy fog rolls in. Winters are usually fairly cold with moderate snowfall. Since Trail is located close to two mountain ranges, winter is another popular time to visit for skiing and snowboarding.

Airlines that Fly to Trail Airport

There is currently only one airline, Pacific Coastal Airlines, operating out of Trail Airport. This airline flies to and from Vancouver International Airport (YVR). As the second-busiest airport in Canada, YVR serves over 50 airlines flying all over the world. No matter where in Canada you're starting, it'll be easy to connect in YVR then head to Trail Airport.

Arriving at Trail Airport

Trail Airport consists of one recently upgraded passenger terminal. The upgrades increased available parking space and created designated drop-off and pickup zones outside of the terminal, greatly simplifying passenger's transportation needs. Taxis can be found waiting outside of arrivals in the designated taxi zone. The airport is located about 11 km from Trail and the ride by car will take about 15 minutes. If you'd prefer to rent a car, Practicar Car & Truck Rentals operates out of the airport.

Trail Airport Facilities

As the airport only offers two flights per day, there are relatively few amenities available. The waiting area is bright, clean, and modern, with ample seating and a large viewing window. If you're travelling with your family, there is a small kid's centre with interactive games and displays for children to enjoy. If you're travelling on business, there is a semi-private business centre complete with tables and chairs, device charging stations, and Ethernet cables to connect to the internet. Though the airport is actively looking for commercial partners, you'll have to do your souvenir shopping outside of the airport for now.

What to See and Do in Trail

One of the most popular and unique tourist attractions in Trail is the Columbia River Skywalk, a thousand-foot pedestrian bridge suspended over the Columbia River. Walking or biking along the bridge is a must to take in the gorgeous views. Once you've seen the river from afar, head to Gyro Park to relax on the beach next to the riverbank. Gyro Park features open green space, a sandy beach, a playground, and a gazebo. In the summer, public washrooms and a concession stand are open for your convenience. When it's cold out, head to the Trail Aquatic and Leisure Centre to swim indoors. The pool even has a waterslide and a diving board.
