Stony Rapids Airport is conveniently located right on the outskirts of the hamlet. Scott's General Store, which is located just steps away from the airport entrance, offers car rentals. If you call ahead of time (306-439-2056), they may be able to arrange to pick you up directly from the airport if needed.

Taxi services are also available out of Stony Rapids and nearby Black Lake - simply ask at the airport terminal if they can arrange a ride for you. If you're staying inside Stony Rapids, a taxi shouldn't cost more than $10.

Aside from camping gear, you can find just about anything you might need at Scott's General Store or The Northern Store. All businesses in Stony Rapids close at 6pm, except for Al's Place which is open until 8.

Stony Rapids Airport Facilities

Because of it's remote location, Stony Rapids airport doesn't see much passenger traffic. It is a small single-terminal airport with few amenities, aside from a vending machine and waiting area with wi-fi. Plan on grabbing a bite to eat before you leave for the airport!

We recommend arriving at least 60 minutes before your flight's departure so you have enough time to check in and move through security. Remember to bring a piece of government-issued photo ID so you can board the plane!

What to See and Do in Stony Rapids

Stony Rapids is the perfect destination for people who just want to get away from it all and enjoy nature. The area is surrounded by the beautiful Fond-du-Lac River and the Boreal Forest, which is great for hiking, camping, fishing, and boating. If you want to enjoy the water, head south on Highway SK-964 for about 20 minutes to reach the nearby community of Black Lake!

You can do most of your shopping at Scott's General Store near the airport. Al's Place is the main restaurant in town, and is open until 8:00pm most days. There is a library, community centre, park, campground, and picnic area to explore. For more traveller information, you can call or visit the town office from 9am to 5pm.
