Best Time to Book a Flight to The Pas, Manitoba

The Pas is located in northern Manitoba between the Pasquia and Saskatchewan rivers. Its northern location means long, cold winters and short, warm summers. The Pas has plenty to offer at any time of year, but we suggest traveling during the summer to maximize your chances of good weather. June, July, and August are all popular times to visit, but you might find a cheaper flight if you travel in May or September instead!

Airlines that Fly to The Pas Airport

YQD offers routes through Calm Air and Missinippi Air from a variety of destinations, including Flin Flon (YFO), Winnipeg (YWP), Thompson (YTH), and Saskatoon (YXE). If you're traveling from outside Manitoba or Saskatchewan, the cheapest route will usually take you through Winnipeg.

What to Expect When Arriving at The Pas Airport

YQD is located about 30km from the town of The Pas, on the southern shore of the lake bordering Clearwater Lake Provincial Park. To get to your hotel or campground, you'll have to hire a taxi or rent a car to drive yourself. There are no public transportation options available.

If you're driving, take Provincial Road 287 West to Highway 10, then turn left to head south toward The Pas. In total, the drive takes about 30 minutes. Heading east instead of west from the airport will take you into the provincial park.

The Pas Airport Facilities

The Pas Airport is a small single-terminal facility with few amenities. There is an ATM on site, as well as wi-fi, but no restaurant. We suggest grabbing a bite to eat before leaving for the airport! Plan on arriving at least 60 minutes before your flight departs so you have enough time to check in, clear security, and get settled in before your flight.

What to See and Do in The Pas

The Pas is a small but vibrant community complete with museums, a visitor's centre, a casino, a golf and country club, and a nightclub. Be sure to stop by the Sam Waller museum on Fischer Avenue, which is home to an extremely varied collection of curiosities and historical artifacts collected by the founder of The Pas himself! It's truly a day well spent, and admission is free on Canada Day!

The Pas is the perfect destination for adventure-seekers, with Clearwater Lake Provincial Park practically at its doorstep. Hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and boating are all popular activities on this lake whose name truly does it justice. Clearwater Lake's water is so clear that you can see the bottom 35 feet down, and it's a great spot for trophy fishing with lake trout, northern pike, and whitefish. If you plan on doing any fishing or hunting, be sure to pick up a provincial license at a local hardware or fishing supply store.
