July and August are the best months to visit if you want to maximize your chance of warm weather, but you might find a better deal if you visit during June or September instead. YHI offers flights through First Air and Aklak Air to northern destinations like Inuvik (YEV), Yellowknife (YZF), and Kugluktuk (YCO). What to Expect When Arriving at Ulukhaktok/Holman Airport
Ulukhaktok Airport is conveniently located just 3km from the hamlet, so it's easy to get into town. Simply take the road south from the airport for about 5 minutes, and you'll land in Ulukhaktok after crossing a small bridge across the river and passing a small lake. The hamlet is located on the shore of Queen's Bay just south of the airport.
There are no taxi services or public transportation in Ulukhaktok due to its small population (only abuot 400 people!). However, you may be able to arrange transportation or a rental car with the staff at the Arctic Char Inn, the only hotel in town. There are also boat shuttle services available if you'd like to explore the surrounding bay and rivers.

Ulukhaktok Airport is a very small facility with only one terminal and few amenities. There is a waiting area with a vending machine, but no cafe or restaurant so we suggest grabbing a bite to eat before you leave for the airport. Airport staff will be able to help you arrange transportation, guided tours, and more - so don't be afraid to ask!
Plan on arriving at least 60 minutes before your flight so you have enough time to check in and move through security.
What to See and Do in Ulukhaktok
Ulukhaktok is a small but vibrant community with plenty of events, activities, and cultural traditions to enjoy. There are regular dance and drumming events at the community centre, as well as the Kingalik Jamboree (featuring traditional activities like duck plucking, square dancing contests, and tea boiling) in mid-June. In mid-July, the community hosts the annual Billy Joss Open Golf Tournament at its golf course, the only golf course north of the Arctic circle!
