Victoria Falls Airport: Cheap Flights, Tickets and Travel Deals

Victoria Falls, lying on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, is one of the world's most spectacular natural wonders. Twice as high as Niagara Falls and many times wider, Victoria Falls boasts the largest sheet of water of any waterfall in the world. Most of the tourist infrastructure is on the Zimbabwean side of the falls and, despite Zimbabwe's political problems, Victoria Falls itself is safe to visit. Furthermore, the region is home to plenty of eco-tourism opportunities, including white water rafting, safaris, and bungee jumping.

The Victoria Falls Airport, on the Zimbabwean side, was built specifically to serve the region's tourist industry. As a result, getting to Victoria Falls by air is extremely easy, with flights to destinations throughout Zimbabwe and abroad. With Price Alerts you can receive updates whenever prices on flights to or from Victoria Falls go up or down, ensuring you don't miss out on a great deal.

Transportation Options

Victoria Falls Airport is located 11 km south of the town of Victoria Falls itself. Most hotels will offer to pick you up from the airport, although check beforehand. If they don't, taxis are cheap and plentiful. Because the town of Victoria Falls is within walking distance of the falls themselves, there's no real need to rent a car while you're here. However, if you do want to be adventurous and head outside of the town then renting a car may be a good idea. Some hotels are located a bit outside of the town itself, but most will still offer a shuttle service to the falls.

Terminal Information

Victoria Falls Airport is a brand-new facility and everything here is very clean and modern. WiFi is free and generally works well; however the lines at immigration can be extremely slow. There is a small duty free store and other amenities. A taxidermic lion in the lobby is popular with children while traditional dances are often performed outside of the main entrance.

What to see and do in Victoria Falls

The main attraction in Victoria Falls is, not surprisingly, Victoria Falls itself. This is a truly awe-inspiring sight, with the Zambezi River cascading into a 100 m gorge below. Many tour operators will show you the best spots to view the falls, including the hair-raising Devil's Pool. The area also offers lots of adventure tourism, including bungee jumping, gorge swinging, helicopter tours, rappelling, and white water rafting. Safaris and sunset cruises on the Zambezi River are also extremely popular. As one of Africa's top tourist destinations, there are lots of hotels in Victoria Falls, but it is best to book well in advance to make sure you get a great room.
