The Salvador Airport is located about 30 km from the city centre and there are a number of transportation options. Executive taxis are prepaid and reliable, although they tend to be the most expensive choice. Regular taxis are also available, although be prepared to haggle over the fare and watch out for unscrupulous drivers trying to make an extra buck off of unwitting travellers. Uber is also available at the airport and is a cheap and reliable option. Shuttle buses, ranging from cheap and crowded public transit to luxury "First Class" buses, are also available. The driving distance from the airport to most areas of the city is about 30 minutes. You can also rent a car to get around the city. The road to the airport is a tourist attraction in itself, going through lush and scenic bamboo forest.

Terminal Information

Salvador Airport consists of one terminal which was opened in 1999. While the terminal is a bit small, it is modern and includes a wide variety of shops and restaurants. Be advised, however, that most shopping and dining options are located before security. Unfortunately, while there is WiFi, it is somewhat unreliable. Also, there are no airline VIP lounges yet.
