While the tourist town it serves continues to thrive, Ian Fleming International Airport (OCJ) isn't publicly accepting any flights, despite undergoing a recent 2011 renovation and grand reopening.

Location

Located about 10 km from the city of Ocho Rios, Ian Fleming International Airport is situated in Boscobel, Saint Mary Parish, Jamaica. To reach the beachfront hotel and resort district in Ocho Rios, you can hop in a taxi or rent a car. This scenic drive along the Jamaican coastline only spans about 20 minutes if you take Highway A3. Airlines

Despite sporting "international" in their name, as of February 2018, Ian Fleming International Airport is only receiving private domestic charters. To reach Ocho Rios, Canadians are advised to fly into Montego Bay instead, which is served by Sangster International Airport (MBJ). Together, Air Canada, Air Transat, and WestJet offer direct flights to Montego Bay from Halifax, Montréal, Ottawa, Toronto, and Winnipeg. City

Once a quiet fishing port, Ocho Rios is now a bustling, busy tourist destination with cruise boats flocking to its sandy beaches and turquoise waves. That being said, Ocho Rios is not nearly as crowded as Montego Bay or Kingston, which is certainly an advantage if you're looking for a more peaceful, laidback vacation.
