Hue Airport: Cheap Flights, Tickets and Travel Deals

Hue Airport (HUI), also known as Phu Bai International Airport, is one of the smaller international airports in Vietnam. Despite its small size, the airport is a major gateway into central Vietnam, due primarily to its proximity to Hue. As the former capital of Vietnam, the city of Hue is filled with historic monuments and museums which attract millions of tourists each year.

By using Skyscanner's flight search tools, you'll find the cheapest flights to Hue Airport. Simply enter airport code HUI along with your travel dates to discover all available flight routes from your starting destination. Filter by trip length, airfare cost, or airline to find the best flight for your trip to Hue, then book through Skyscanner with no added fees.

Best Time to Book a Flight to Hue Airport

The best time to plan a trip to Hue is between February and May. During these months, the weather is warm to hot and rainfall is generally minimal. If you're lucky, your visit may also fall during the Hue Festival, a biennial arts and culture festival usually held in April or May.

If you visit the city in June or July, you'll be greeted with ample sunshine but uncomfortably hot daytime temperatures. August to January is Hue's wet season. Tourists generally avoid these months as the heavy rainfall impedes outdoor activities. However, you can usually find the cheapest flights to Hue during this season.

Airlines that Fly to Hue Airport

Hue Airport is served by three airlines:

All three airlines fly to and from Vietnam's busiest airport, located in Ho Chi Minh City. Most flight routes between Canada and Hue include a stop at this airport. Vietnam Airlines, the country's flag carrier airline, also flies to Hanoi and to Zunyi in China. VietJet Air and Jetstar Pacific are both low-cost carriers and fly to Vietnamese cities like Hanoi and Nha Trang.

Arriving at Hue Airport

Hue Airport is located about 15 km from downtown Hue, or about a half hour away by car. All domestic and international flights arrive at the airport's one passenger terminal, a two-floor structure open 24 hours a day. The cheapest travel option at Hue Airport is the airport bus, which picks up directly at the airport and drops off at various spots in the city. A one-way bus ride costs about $2 CAD.

Standard taxis and motorcycle taxis are also available just outside of the terminal. To get to downtown Hue by taxi will cost about $14 CAD. Motorcycle taxis cost about half as much but are not a good option for those with a lot of luggage or those travelling in a group.

Hue Airport Facilities

Though Hue Airport is relatively small, there are a number of convenient amenities available to passengers. On the first floor, you'll find currency exchange locations and ATMs, small shops, and refreshment stands. There is also a tourism service counter providing information about Hue city and Vietnam's major tourist attractions.

The second floor houses additional shops and fast food locations as well as various souvenir stands. There is also a business centre available for business travellers. If you're waiting for a connecting flight and want some added comfort, quiet V.I.P. areas are available on both floors of the terminal for a small fee.

What to See and Do in Hue

After you've booked a cheap flight to Hue Airport, you'll want to book a sightseeing tour of the city. These guided tours are the best way to see and learn about all of the city's most popular sights, like the Tomb of Minh Mang and the Hue Royal Palace. While most tours are on foot or by bus, you can also switch it up by taking a motorcycle tour.

Though most of the city's must-see attractions are beautiful and historic buildings, there is also ample natural beauty to behold. You can walk along the edge of the tranquil and picturesque Perfume River via pedestrian walkways, or ride across in a dragon boat. Bach Ma National Park is another popular outdoor spot, complete with nature trails, lakes, mountains, and even stunning waterfalls.
