Getting to Huntsville International Airport

You'll find flights to Huntsville from almost every major airport in Canada, including Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and Vancouver. All flights have at least one connecting stop, usually in Dallas, Atlanta, and Washington DC; or for flights from Vancouver, sometimes Los Angeles or San Francisco. Air Canada, American Airlines, United, and Delta are the primary carriers. Since Huntsville is a smaller regional airport, your final connecting flight into Huntsville is typically on American, Delta or United. Codesharing - where you buy a ticket on one carrier and fly at least one leg on a partner airline - is common, especially when flying Air Canada. Since there are so many flight choices, be flexible and use the Skyscanner Whole Month Search screen to get the cheapest fare. By looking at the entire month's worth of fares, you may be able to get a better deal by changing your travel dates by a day or two. In general, midweek fares are less expensive.

Airport Facilities

Huntsville Airport is only 22 kilometres - a 17-minute drive - from downtown Huntsville. The single terminal is easy to navigate, with most passenger services for both arriving and departing flights on the ground level. The Departure door leads to passenger check-in and escalators to the second level where you'll find the security checkpoints and the plane gates. When you arrive at the airport, you just make the trip in reverse, heading down the escalators to baggage claim.

ATMs, cafés, shops and even special communication equipment for the deaf are available on both levels. A pet park is outside the ground floor arrivals. The Sheraton Four Points Hotel is on the east side of the terminal, with guest check-in on the second floor.

Rental car desks are next to baggage claim, while the cars are kept in the adjacent parking garage. If you don't have baggage to pick up and you have a car reserved, take the Skywalk directly to the adjacent parking lot and pick up your car.

Other transportation options include taxis, Lyft and Uber. Taxi fares average $50 CAD to downtown Huntsville. Lyft and Uber are usually a little less, but not always. Shared shuttles and private cars are also available. Once in Huntsville, the city has an extensive downtown shuttle bus system, starting at about $3.00 CAD per trip.
