The airline is based at Narita International Airport (NRT) in Tokyo, Japan. Vanilla Air flies to 11 cities within Asia, including domestic destinations like Osaka in Japan and international vacation spots like Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

Why Fly Vanilla Air

How to Check-in

If you're flying within Japan, Vanilla Air check-in services include web check-in and airport check-in via self-service kiosks or staffed counters. Web check-in opens 48 hours before departure. Flights cannot be changed or cancelled after checking in online. In-airport check-in runs from 90 minutes to 30 minutes before departure.

International passengers will only be able to check in at the Vanilla Air staffed service counter. Check-in is available from two hours to 50 minutes before flight departure.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

The Vanilla Air carry-on baggage allowance is two bags per passenger, which covers one bag or small suitcase plus one personal item such as a handbag or a laptop bag. Each bag must be no larger than 56cm x 36cm x 23cm, and together the two bags cannot exceed 10kgs.

Vanilla Air's Inclusive Fare allows for up to 20kgs of checked baggage with no extra fees. If your baggage is oversized, or if you choose the Simple Fare, your extra baggage fees will range from $25-75 CAD.

If you booked with Vanilla Air's Simple Fare, a standard seat will be randomly assigned to you. Choosing your own seat will cost an additional $7-17 CAD, depending on your flight destination. Inclusive Fare passengers will be able to choose a specific standard seat with no extra fee.

Vanilla Air Relax Seats are special seats that offer extra leg room. These seats are limited in quantity and always require an extra fee of between $13 and $30 CAD to book

Fare Types and Fees

If you need the flexibility to change or cancel your trip, Vanilla Air's Inclusive Fare is your best bet. With this fare, changing your flight dates will cost around $7-12 CAD and cancelling your flight will require a refund fee of $37-100 CAD. In certain cases, such as illness or injury of yourself or a relative, Inclusive Fare tickets are fully refundable.

The Simple Fare is budget-friendly but not flexible. With this fare, you will not receive a refund for a cancelled flight for any reason, unless it is due to Vanilla Air's error. Fees to change your flight dates are also much higher, at $50-$100 CAD.

Service on Board

Vanilla Air's in-flight menu includes full meals, desserts, snacks, hot and cold beverages and alcoholic beverages, all available for extra fees. The airline also sells branded merchandise on their flights, like pens, blankets and key chains.

Devices such as cell phones and tablets must be set to airplane mode while the plane is in flight.
