Norwegian Air International is a low-cost carrier based and headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. As a fully integrated subsidiary of Norwegian Air Shuttle, Norwegian Air International uses its parent company's corporate identity and branding. It does, however, operate its own fleet under its own Ireland-issued air operator's certificate. Norwegian Air Shuttle is the eighth-largest airline in Europe, the third-largest low-cost carrier in Europe, and the largest airline in Scandinavia.
In 2013, in order to expand its services to international destinations, Norwegian Air Shuttle set out to establish four fully owned long-haul subsidiaries. Norwegian Air International was created to operate its parent company's long-haul routes to Asia and North America. The newly formed airline received its air operator's certificate in February 2014. Three years later, in February 2017, Norwegian Air International announced that it would begin transatlantic flights from Dublin Airport and from London's Gatwick Airport on behalf of Norwegian Air Shuttle. The airline's first transatlantic flight was carried on a Boeing 737-800 on June 16, 2017.

How to Check In, Seating Assignment, Leg Room and Other Fees
To check in for your Norwegian Air International flight, simply head over to the fast check-in kiosks when you arrive at the airport. All you have to do is enter your booking reference and you will receive your printed boarding pass. If you have bags to check, then you can drop your bags off at the bag drop area before heading to security. Norwegian advises passengers to go to the check-in counter if they require special assistance or if they are travelling with sport or musical equipment. Check-in for Norwegian Air International flights begins three hours before departure and closes one hour before departure. Give yourself plenty of time to check in and go through security, as you must be at your gate and ready to board at least 30 minutes prior to take-off.
Seat reservation is included in Norwegian Air International's LowFare+, Flex, Premium, and PremiumFlex fares. LowFare passengers can also choose their seat in advance for a fee of USD 45 per flight. If you want to secure a specific seat or make sure that you are seated next to your travel companions, then it is recommended that you choose your seat online well ahead of time. Seat reservations can be made up to six hours before departure.
Baggage Allowance and Fees
Every passenger on a Norwegian Air International flight can bring one carry-on bag with maximum dimensions of 55x40x23 cm and one small personal item with dimensions of 25x33x20 cm. Your personal item must be able to fit underneath the seat in front of you, and will typically be a handbag, small backpack, or a laptop bag. The maximum combined weight of all carry-on items is 10 kg for passengers flying on a LowFare, LowFare+, or Premium fare and 15 kg for passengers flying on a Flex or PremiumFlex fare.
Your free checked baggage allowance will depend on the type of fare you are flying on. Flex, Premium, and PremiumFlex passengers can check two bags that weigh up to 20 kg each, LowFare+ passengers can check one bag, and LowFare passengers do not have a free checked baggage allowance. Passengers can purchase additional checked baggage allowance online or at the airport. Baggage rates depend on your itinerary and on whether you are flying during the low season or the high season.
Passengers who wish to check more than two bags will need to pay an excess baggage fee of USD 15 per extra kilogram. This fee also applies to any pieces of baggage within your baggage allowance but over the 20 kg weight limit. Norwegian Air International will not accept individual bags weighing over 32 kg or a total combined checked baggage weight over 64 kg.
Service On Board: In-flight Entertainment and Meals
Stay entertained on Norwegian air long-haul flights with your very own, state-of-the-art entertainment system. You can choose from a variety of movies and TV shows to pass the time. Norwegian Air International is also unique in that the airline offers free WiFi on most flights. If your flight comes free WiFi, then it will be updated with a WiFi symbol two days before your departure time, which you'll be able to see when you check your flight status.
When it comes to in-flight meal service, Norwegian Air International provides a three-course meal for passengers flying on a LowFare+, Flex, Premium, and PremiumFlex fare. You get to choose between two different meal options as well as between beer, wine, or mineral water. Each meal option includes a starter, a main course, and dessert. A secondary light meal is also provided on some longer flights. Passengers with special dietary requirements will be able to choose from available alternatives. LowFare travellers have the option of pre-ordering off the economy menu as well, but they must do so at least 72 hours before departure time. A snack bar is also available between meal servings on Norwegian Air International flights.
Child Fares/Fees, Minor Service guidelines
Infants under two years of age at the time of the flight and at the time of the return flight can travel for 10% of an adult fare on Norwegian Air International flights as long as they are seated in the lap of an adult. This discount applies on all fares excluding Premium and PremiumFlex tickets. Children between two and 11 years of age receive a 75% discount when flying with Norwegian Air International, except when flying on a Premium, PremiumFlex, or LowFare campaign price ticket. The child fare also applies to infants who occupy a seat. Children aged 12 and up must fly on a full adult fare.
One adult can travel with up to two infants on Norwegian Air International. However, only one infant can travel in your lap. The other infant will require their own seat and an approved child restraint seat.
Norwegian does not provide Unaccompanied Minor Service on long-haul flights operated by Norwegian Air International. Only children 12 years and over can fly unaccompanied by an adult on Norwegian Air International flights.
While Norwegian does allow cats and dogs on domestic flights and flights between Schengen countries, pets are unfortunately not allowed on long-haul flights operated by Norwegian Air International or other long-haul Norwegian Air Shuttle subsidiary carriers. Travellers who are flying Norwegian with their pets and taking connecting flights with Norwegian Air Shuttle subsidiaries should take special note of their itinerary and make sure that their pet can accompany them the whole way.
