Bearskin Airlines flights & tickets

Founded in 1963, Bearskin Airlines has always had its roots planted in Ontario. It was named after Bearskin Lake, a remote First Nations Community located 270 miles northeast of Sioux Lookout. Today, Bearskin Airlines serves 12 destinations in the Ontario and Winnipeg area including Red Lake and Timmins. No other airline offers better connecting service between northwest northeast Ontario. Thunder Bay acts as Bearskin's major airline hub, connecting Northern Ontario's five major cities to Northwest Ontario and Winnipeg.

Bearskin Airlines operates only one aircraft type — the Fairchild Metroliner. This 19 passenger plane promises speed, range, and best of all, a guaranteed window or aisle seat. Bearskin Airlines has recieved multiple accolades for its business practices including the Outstanding Business Achievement Award in 1988 and Company of the Year in the category of "51 or more employees" in 1993.

Why Fly Bearskin Airlines?

How to Check In

Bearskin recommends you allow sufficient time for check in and security clearance. The check-in times vary depending on your destination; if you're going to Winnipeg, recommended check-in time is 60 minutes before departure; if you're going to Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Timmins, North Bay, or Sault Ste. Marie, recommended check-in time is 45 minutes before departure; if you're flying to Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, Dryden, Fort Frances, Kenora, or Kapuskasing, recommended check-in is also 45 minutes before departure.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Due to the limited size of the aircraft and lack of oversize cabins, carry-ons are restricted to one piece of luggage at a maximum of 6 kg. Eligible pieces include a soft-sided briefcase and a laptop bag. Wheelchairs, strollers, and car seats will be accepted free of charge and will not be considered part of the "one bag" policy. Bearskin Airlines will also allow each customer one free checked-in item under 18 kg. Additional expenses will apply for any checked-in luggage heavier than 18 kg.

Bearskin Airlines has 19 seats per plane with only one seat per row on each side of the aisle. Because of the layout, everyone is guaranteed an aisle and window seat!

Booking Fees

Bearskin Airlines doesn't have any credit card booking fees, but it does have different pricing for ticket changes and cancellation. If travelling on fixed fare, it is $75 per direction plus the fare difference to change or cancel the ticket; if travelling with flex fares, it is $50 per direction plus fare difference; if travelling with liberty fares, there is no cancellation fee and it only costs the fare difference to change flights.

In-Flight Service

Bearskin Airlines does not offer on board entertainment or meals. It should also be noted that it does not have any washrooms on board.
