airTran flights & tickets

Originally known as ValuJet Airlines when it was founded in 1992, AirTran Airways was a low-cost airline that serviced routes in the eastern and midwestern United States. The company was a big and busy one, conducting almost 700 daily flights, which was only a part of the 200 departures that left from its hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

On the early 2000s, AirTran was successful enough to start a regional brand in partnership with Air Wisconsin. A partnership with Canadian low-cost airline Westjet was proposed but never implemented. By 2008 they were the first airline to outfit every craft in their fleet with on-board internet. By 2009, you could fly to more than 70 cities on an AirTran flight, including destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean. The airline was also the world's number one operator of Boeing 717-200 airplanes. It was a year later that partner Southwest Airlines announced plans to fully integrate with AirTran, and operations at the airline started winding down. AirTran Airlines officially ceased operations in December 2014.
