Getting to Louis Armstrong Airport

MSY is located at 900 Airline Drive, 17km from downtown New Orleans. To get there, take the I-10 West out of the city, then exit left onto Airport Road. From there, follow the signs and turn into the airport parking area on Airline Drive. Long-term parking is available for $19.25 per day in the covered parking lot, or $14 per day in the uncovered parking area.

If you prefer not to take your car, there are many public transportation options available. A taxi will cost you about $50 from downtown New Orleans, or you can take a bus to the airport for only $2. The Regional Transit Authority (RTA) Airport Express line (number 202) can pick you up from Elk Place at Cleveland and the Union Passenger Terminal Bus Bay 2, with a direct route to the departures level of the airport terminal.

As of January 2018, Air Canada is the only carrier offering direct flights to Louis Armstrong Airport from Canada. Air Canada's airplanes leave from Toronto's Pearson Airport for New Orleans on a year-round schedule. The complete list of airlines hosted by MSY includes:

  • Air Canada
  • Alaska Airlines
  • Allegiant Air
  • American Airlines
  • British Airways
  • Condor
  • Copa Airlines
  • Delta Air Lines
  • Frontier Airlines
  • JetBlue Airways
  • Southwest Airlines
  • Spirit Airlines
  • United Airlines
  • Vacation Express
  • Virgin America

East Terminal and West Terminal are Louis Armstrong Airport's two terminals, divided between Concourse A, B, C, and D. Concourse A is currently closed for renovations. Southwest Airlines uses Concourse B, while Concourse D is home to Air Canada, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines. If you're flying to MSY from outside of North America, you'll be arriving at Concourse C.

Louis Armstrong Airport has the usual array of souvenir shops, duty-free outlets, and food vendors that you'd expect at a major American airport. Banking services are available through Whitney Bank, which is located in the lobby of Concourse C. For VIP passengers, the Delta Sky Club is a swanky airport lounge in Concourse D. As we mentioned above, live music performances happen regularly inside all concourses. Check the airport's official website for the full schedule.

Wi-fi is available for free to all passengers, and there are many charging stations placed throughout the airport so you won't have to worry about running out of battery while you wait. Delta passengers can gain access to the Delta Sky Club between gates 2 and 4 in Concourse D. The airport has a wide variety of shopping and dining options, though none are open 24 hours a day.

We recommend arriving at the airport at least 90 minutes before any domestic flight, or 3 hours before any international flight to give yourself enough time to check in, move through security, and find your gate.

The City

New Orleans is a booming mecca of music and culture. Famously known as the home of jazz, this vibrant city is acclaimed for its music clubs, creole restaurants, and yearly Mardi Gras parades and festivities. These popular attractions are largely concentrated in the celebrated French Quarter, but Uptown is also worth visiting for its beautiful 19th-century architecture and Downtown hosts an impressive selection of museums.
